Electrical installation & household appliance repair Email: info@scs-repairs.com

Many appliance faults are caused by a single worn or failed component and can be repaired for a fraction of the cost of replacement. We diagnose the fault, confirm the cost, and repair where it makes sense to do so.

Washing machine in a utility room

Washing machines and tumble dryers

The most common household repairs. Typical faults include failure to spin or drain, leaks, noise, door and lock problems, heating faults and error codes.

  • Pumps, hoses and drainage faults
  • Door seals, door locks and hinges
  • Motors, brushes and drive belts
  • Heating elements and thermostats
  • Bearings and drum faults
  • Dryer heaters, sensors and vent problems

Dishwashers, electric ovens and hobs

Built-in and freestanding kitchen appliances, including dishwashers, electric single and double ovens, ceramic and induction hobs, cooker hoods and microwaves.

  • Dishwasher pumps, heaters, spray arms and inlet valves
  • Oven elements, fans, thermostats and door seals
  • Hob elements, induction modules and touch controls
  • Oven and hob installation, including the supply circuit where required
  • Cooker hood motors, lighting and filters

We repair electric appliances only. Gas cookers, hobs and ovens must be worked on by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Fridges, freezers and other appliances

Fault diagnosis and repair of electrical and mechanical components on refrigeration and other small household appliances.

  • Thermostats, fans, defrost heaters and timers
  • Door seals, hinges and lighting
  • Control boards and sensors
  • Vacuum cleaners, small kitchen appliances and heaters where a repair is economical

Work on a sealed refrigerant system requires F-Gas certification. Where a fault is in the sealed system we will tell you, and we will not undertake that work.

Garden equipment

Repair and servicing of electric and battery-powered garden equipment, so that tools that still have life in them are not thrown away.

  • Corded and cordless lawnmowers
  • Hedge trimmers, strimmers and leaf blowers
  • Pressure washers
  • Battery, charger and switch faults
  • Cable, plug and safety cut-out repairs and replacement
  • Blade sharpening and basic mechanical servicing

How a repair works

Diagnosis first, then a clear decision

Tell us the fault

Make, model and a description of the symptom. A photo of the rating plate helps us bring the right parts.

Diagnosis

We inspect and test the appliance to identify the fault and confirm what parts and labour are needed.

Your decision

You get a confirmed price for the repair. If the cost is not justified by the age and condition of the appliance, we say so and advise on replacement.

Repair and test

The repair is carried out, the appliance is functionally and electrically tested, and the work is explained to you before we leave.
